Kale Chips

Kale Chips are easy to make, and provide a delicious, healthy alternative to regular chips and other snacks!

Wash kale and spin dry, then simply remove the leaves from the stems by sliding your thumb and forefinger up the stem. (Save stems for juicing!)

Mix the ingredients together for your desired flavour (below), then massage through the kale leaves until they begin to wilt down and are very well-coated.

Place in your dehydrator on a teflex sheet (or simply use parchment paper). Dehydrate at a temperature of 105F until crispy (usually 6 to 8 hours).

Tip: leaves do not need to be single layer, but for best results, do not pile too deep.

Alternative: Use broccoli florets instead of kale leaves for a delicious, wholesome alternative!

Ranch and Spicy Ranch
1 C raw cashews, pre-soaked 35 minutes
3/4 C water
2 T fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/4 plus 1/8 tsp salt
1 T minced fresh basil, or 1 tsp. dried
1 T minced fresh dill weed, or 1 tsp. dried

For Spicy Ranch add:
1/2 – 1 tsp. chilli chipotle powder

Place all ingredients except the basil and dill weed in the blender and process until smooth and creamy. Add the basil and dill weed and pulse briefly, just to mix.

Sour Cream & Onion
1/2 C raw cashews, pre-soaked 35 minutes
1/3 C water
1 T onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 T fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
2 T fresh parsley, minced

Combine all ingredients in the blender and process until smooth and creamy.

BBQ
1/2 C water
1 T olive oil
1/2 C sunflower seeds pre-soaked 35 minutes
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. chipotle powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 T maple syrup
1 tsp onion
1 T lemon
1 T tamari
2 T tomato powder
2 tsp mesquite powder

Combine all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust flavours according to taste.

Cheddar Cheese
½ C. sesame tahini
¼ C. fresh lemon juice
4 Tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
½ – 1 red pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder

Combine all ingredients in the blender and process until smooth and creamy.

Salt & Vinegar
3 Tbsp. tamari
3 Tbsp. olive oil
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. onion powder

Place in a small jar and shake well.
